What is the best way to mount a pedestal to the floor board?

I have tried 1/4 lag bolts but they pulled up on my second trip out.

the floor cant be over 1/2 thick
the pedestal base is only about 7-8 inches square
the seats are barrel style buckets
i weigh 215lb so there has to be some serious tork on the base.

Help

russman

(1976 Mark Twain 180BR 302 ford )

mount seat base to plywood square, then mount with
SS screws. u can even put down an epoxy mix base to
further permanently seal it to the deck.
safe boating,
M.Y.

Yep, you need some serious reinforcement if your deck is only 1/2" think - even if you through-bolted (which you should always do- never use any kind of self tapping screws for anything with any loading on it), you would likely rip those bolts out too.

A plywood square on BOTH sides of the deck would be even better.
