I have a 12 foot jon with bench seats i was thinking about buying those clamp on seats. i was wondering what ya'll thought about those and what is a decent price for them. I need two seats, they dont have to be extremely comfortable just something simple that i can remove when not in use.
thanks

Re: Seat help

I have not been too impressed with the clamp on models.

I have seen people use molded plastic seats attached to swivel bases or even nicer folding seats attached.

Check out what iboats sells for seats.

Re: Seat help

I've got a set of those clamp on seats for my one boat, they work but aren't the best thing going. They are a solution to not drilling holes in your boat. They don't stay put if you move around a lot or really knock them around a bit. I had them in my jon boat but finally went to bolt down swivels and short pedestals after getting tired of reclamping the seats every time I got up or leaned the wrong way. I use one seat with an older version of one of those clamps in my row boat but that clamp is made of 1/2" steel rod and is coated with heavy rubber, not like the light duty things sold in Walmart.
The one's from Walmart also rust pretty fast. A buddy of mine went through the same thing with his boat, he finally made full size aluminum caps to fit down over the seat benches with swivels and seats attached, then used a light adhesive to secure them. They will pull up if you have to move them but are snug fitting enough not to fall out or blow away when towing the boat.
In the winter, he pulls the seats out, stores them and the boat in the rafters in his garage.
