I am considering a 2004 17 foot Seaswirl bowrider with a 90 hp Johnson. Another option is a 115 Hp Johnson. Both are 2 stroke engines. Anyone got an opinion if the additional Hp will make a significant difference, either in speed or fuel comsumption?

Both motors are the same design. You could think of the 90 as being the 115 with a 90hp governor on it. So fuel consumption will be identical as long as you don't run the 115 at WOT. The boat is rated for a max of 140hp. That puts the 90 at 64% of the rating. Which is further off the rating than I would want to be. Of course a 115 4-stroke would be really sweet.

Kelly Cook

Go with the 115. You'll be happy you did in the long run.
