can anyone tell me what year, hp and make my sears motor is? The serial # is 40150306 and the model # is 57158401. Any info would be helpful! Also, I am looking for an impeller for this motor. Any ideas???<br /><br />Thanks!
Welcome to Iboats, Race7347!<br /><br />Your Elgin outboard was built by the West Bend Aluminium Company. That model was made between '46 and '51, and your serial number indicates it was made in 1951. It's a 2.5hp single cylinder engine.<br /><br />Spark plug: Champion J12J (now J12C) gapped at .050"<br />Fuel/Oil mix: 16:1 87 octane gas to TC-W3 rated outboard oil (don't use SAE 30W anymore).<br /><br />Parts are going to be hard to get. West bend eventually was bought by Chrysler, who was in turn turned into Force (under USMarine), who eventually got folded into Mercury. Some very oldtime Merc dealers may have parts. Otherwise, try:<br /> Laing's<br />or Twin City Outboards. <br /><br />Good luck!
