Ok guys I admit to being several kinds of stupid using the search.

Awhile back someone had just put up some drywall and instead
of sanding over the tape and mud they used a sponge and water.

I asked a couple questions and now need to read it again.

Thanks

Re: Search help

I searched and could not find the exact post. but..... yes I have used a wet clean sponge to smooth out spackle. I do it on nail holes and small repairs. I actually prefer sandpaper which is faster but causes dust. The sponge does leave it smooth but in a large area it is hard to keep flat.

The search function is POOR and is supposed to be upgraded ??

Re: Search help

Thanks Bob
You pretty much answered my question with your explanation.
This is a patch job (taking out windows) and filling in drywall.
So most of the work was done yesterday.
Quick sand and paint today.
Might give the other way a try with new drywall with flat surface
to begin with.
