Search FAQ?

I've been having a harder time searching since the forums were upgraded...didn't know if there was a "how to" listed anywhere. For example:
I should be able to search for a phrase within quotes: "mercruiser ignition",
or search for all words either with AND or plus signs: +mercruiser +ignition, mercruiser AND ignition
Likewise, I should be able to do an OR search (this seems the default?) or exclude words with minus sign.
Lastly, it seems that the "similar threads" feature from a post gets included in the search, which screws up the results.
As it is, I usually end up getting way too many results, and don't have a good way of limiting the searches.
So, can anyone shed some light on this? BTW, I wasn't sure in which forum to post this, so feel free to move...

Jeez Don, I was hoping you'd tell me...Didn' know if the search function was just garbage, or if I wasn't using it right.
Don't know why I didn't think of it before, but as a bit of a work-around you can search google with the term "site:forums.iboats.com" included in the search--that limits the search to these forums. Then you can use google's search tools as normal. Not ideal, but I think it works better than the iboats function.
