searay tandem axle

i have a 2004 explorer..do you think i can pull a 19.5 procraft bass boat with a 150 hp yamaha on a tandem axle searay trailer that has surge brakes safely? not gonna be going on any long trips mabye 60 miles tops? thanks for any input

Howdy, Ed.<br /><br />It really depends on how your Explorer is equipped. What engine, tranny, diff ratio(s), 2X4 or 4X4, towing package or not, etc. Your Ford dealer can read the door jamb sticker and tell you. He can also upgrade it if needed.<br /><br />I would want at least 5,000lb tow rating for your boat, though my guess is that it weighs less than 3,000lb. Because you have surge brakes you would probably be okay with a 3500lb rating.<br /><br />Good luck. :)

thanks jb...sry for not putting info down it has 4.0 v6 not sure of tranny 3.55 gears 2x4 ..its rated at 3500 lbs but im not sure what the rig weighs?

Do you have a tranny cooler? If its a 302 w/ a cooler, should do fine. My Mountaineer does a 21' Rinker 212 3200 #. Don't use the OD. Book says No.
