Searay starting problem

I just bought a 91 Sea ray 185 with the mercruiser. Last week it started fine and this week when i turn the ignition i get a single click on top of the motor. All other electrical componants seems to be working fine. I had the battery checked and i checked all the fuses. I dont know where to begin, I have used the forums for help on other boats and thank everyone in advance.

You probably have corrosion in battery to starter cables or in one of cable connections, MP. Take all connections off and clean them. While they are off inspect for swellings or weak spots.

Check both ends of those cables.

thanks for the info, i tested everything and cleaned all the connections, everything passed all the tests that i was given except i cannot short the starter solinod to make it engage i am going to remove the starter and have everything tested thanks for all the help.
