Mine is mounted on the starboard side half way between the outdrive and the side - next to the speedo pickup. It is pretty much on plane with the hull lengthwise maybe a hair below. It needs to be underwater to function properly. I hate putting holes in my boat - especially the transmon. I used some marine putty in the screw holes which has worked well for the transducer, but not for the speedo pickup. I might redo this and use epoxy.
My SRV190 has a fairly deep V - I draw 2.7 feet of water in relation to where my transducer is mounted.
