Not sure where to post this.......My drain plug only screws in a few threads and then it's tight. The plug end sticks way out. Is this normal or should it screw in almost flush?

The normal garboard drain plug is 1/2" NPT pipe thread, and usually go in about 1/4" to 3/8"

They don't screw in flush.

On my boat the plug is 1/2 inch NPT. The thread is tapered and seals itself. As long as it is not leaking you should be OK.

Have a great day,

Rob.

There are threaded drain plugs? Sorry, I've only seen the rubber ones you just stick in and clamp down the handle which expands the center to make it watertight.

Ayuh,.......

Larger, or high-end hulls tend to have the Screw-in Garboard Plugs rather than the ole Coleman Cooler style of flip-over Rubber plugs.....
