I am almaost affraid to ask, but can anyone tell me what kind of stinger construction I have in my searay. It is a 1989 Br16 open bow, with a 3.0l. I found two small areas that seem soft. One reply told me to check stringers, so I guess I am concerned. Do these boats have any bad history to them.

searay,

Sea Rays are no more prone to stringer rot than any others that use wood. And Sea Ray still does.

I would suspect the floor boards rather than stringers are rotten.

Re: Searay construction

Searay is known to make excellent boats. It is likely that just that area is damaged and you can hopefully repair it economically.Unless the boat has not been looked after,as in letting water sit in the boat for periods of time and not covering it,it is unlikely to be more extensive.I suggest you call Searay at 1-800-772-6287 and they may give you details on your paticular boat and its construction.Don't wait too long to repair what sounds like it may be rot as it does spread if not repaired.
