i have an aluminum v-hull rivited. it does not leak but i see that the sealer in the inside of the front of the boat where the 2 peices of aluminum meet (at the v) is getting old and cracked up can i just put new sealer over it ? or do i have to clean it all out.remember it does not leak and i hate to dig out all the old stuff and maybe make a leak. anyway what can i use for a sealer?

Re: sealer for boat

The best and the strongest is 3M 5200 You should clean the excess sealant off and get the aluminum cleaned up with a scotchbrite pad.Wipe the area with alcohal or acetone and apply the 5200.I used it in place of a weld for years and it held and was watertight. Charlie
