My trailer had the lights that the actual bulb and socket are encased in a clear plastic shell. The brake light is not working and I cant for the life of me figure out how to get the clear plastic shell off.

I do have a 3# engineering hammer that I am sure will work...but the idea is to be able to put it back together.

Is the clear shell supposed to snap off??????

Thanks,

Jay

If it's a Wesbar setup like I have, you have to replace the light capsule. The bulb themselves are not supposed to be changeable. If you open the capsule to change the bulb, you no longer have a sealed unit. I think they are about $10.00 at any boating supply store. Check the Iboats megamall

http://www.iboats.com/mall/index.cg...814038&*******=518129826&search_type=category

http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product/10001/-1/10001/233528/10001/763/425/17

Re: Sealed Lights--How to replace the bulb

I just did one on my trailer this afternoon. You have to take a thin blade and wedge it between the lense and the plastic case. It will pop out after working it a while. It will lose some of it's waterproof ability, so I put marine goop around the red plastic lense when I replace it. When I have to remove it again, I simple cut around the edge of the glued lense with an exacto blade.
Stalker
