I have a 1971 boat with the electric shift OMC drive mated to a new Chevy 350 and have noticed the oil in the UPPER HALF is MILKY! I have been told the seals are bad and need replacement- I tok if off the boat and stored it in the basement for fear of freezing this winter, but it is now time to get it ready...

Is this a DIY job or am I going to have to spend hundreds on special tools to attempt the imposible anyway?

Do I have to go pro, I'm quite handy. The lower half is fine, but I'll replace that oil anyway as part of spring commisioning-

thoughts?

Ok, bump. Last try then I gotta keep looking. You'd think someone here would know. THanks anyway.

No, I don't think I have the tru- course steering. The steering rod from the transom bolts right to the drive case, no worm gear.

Thanks for the reply.
