I replaced all the seals that I could locate, but have 3 small ones left over.

1 is a small, chubby o-ring and I think that it likely seals the mechanical shift rod, but it is deep in the middle of the lower unit and I cannot reach it. I hear that there is a tool made for that.

There is a small thin o-ring. Also a small flat washer made of fiber, it seems. likely a gasket/seal, but I don't know and I couldn't find where it was to go.

All the other seals made sense and got replaced. Was obviously leaking from the prop shaft seal -- a steel leader from a pike fisherman got wrapped around the old shaft and tore it up. I took parts off a dead LU that matched mine and all is good now. But I want to be able to answer "No." to the question: "Got Milk?"

I used red silicone to seal the LU. Is making a gasket the better way to go? I can tell that if the 9 allen bolts don't get good coverage, then the water will sneak in thee quickly, so I was thinking that a gasket would be a plus.
