With all that's been written here about the valve bodies I have been unable to find a reference to the big seal that goes around the valve body before it goes back on the reservoir. It's not really an o-ring... it's kind of flattish.

Should I re-use the old one, or replace with a new one... and if the latter... where do you find it?

Referring to the seal shown in this picture:

If the original seal is not damaged, you can re-use it. Not under very much pressure and is mostly just to keep the oil in the reservoir and keep water out.

As far as replacement, they are available wholesale but usually in quantities of 25 or more. You may be able to find a single seal if you have a hydraulic cylinder repair shop in your area. Just take the old seal with you and they can match it up with a replacement.

Thanks... it's leaking oil at one of the screws, so I have to take it off to investigate. Was worried that I'd get it off and then have to wait weeks to re-assemble.

If it's just a water seal then I can re-use the one I have on my spare VB
