I bought a sportcraft 172 17' fisherman with a 1.6 ltr Seadrive. What kind of performance can I expect with this combination, if anyone knows? Also does it has an electric fuel pump on the tank? I am in process of trying to rework fuel system.
I plan on using it for a crappie fishing boat.
Thanks,

There should be no electric fuel pumps on that application. There may be an electric primer only. Not to scare you but a lot of parts for the sea drive bracket it self are hard to find. The mtr parts are still mostly available. OMC stopped building these in around 1991.

I only have $600 in the whole rig plus a trip to get it. I know the motor runs and has 100lbs compression on each cylinder. It needs kits in carbs and a starter and general clean up outside. Tilt and trim works fine. I figure if I cant get the bugs out of it I can part it out.
Keeping fingers crossed it turns out with little work.

For the price you got it for and what already works on it sounds like a good deal. As you said , you can always part it out. Good Luck.
