SeaDoo VTS question

The VTS on my 1995 SeaDoo XP is not working. The pump is terribly corroded and looks like a nightmare, and I am sure it needs replaced, but I am curious how the unit functions. It has 2 wires coming off the motor. There is no voltage on either wire relative to ground when the switch is operated either direction, and there is no voltage between the two wires (relative to each other) as the switch is operated. I would not be surprised to find that the fuse was also blown as the motor locked up, but the previous owner told me the motor was bad when I bought it.

My question is two-fold: Is case ground on the motor used with one wire being CW rotation and the other CCW rotation, or is polarity reversed on the two wires to achieve rotation in both directions?

Re: SeaDoo VTS question

the voltage is reversed by the VTS module when the switch is operated...One wire is positive and the other negative for UP and then they switch polarity to go DOWN..

Check the VTS fuse, but it's also very possible that the VTS module is bad...

water gets in the motors from a bad boot and they blow fuses, the module has relay switches that reverse the polarity of the motor and thereby reverse the rotation.
