Hello Everyone,

I just purchased a 1993 Seadoo XP. What does everyone think about removing the oil injection system and just use an oil/fuel mix? What would be the gas/oil ratio?

I have read and been told this is a wise thing to do on the older models to eliminate the possibly of the system failing.

Any thoughts or experiences...

Thanks,
John

Re: Seadoo Oil Injection

Yes John, I recommend that you drop the oil injection on a model that old. You should mix your gas with a 50:1 ratio. VERY IMPORTANT. You must leave your oil tank in because the rotax engine's rotary valve chamber must be kept submerged in oil.
To use premix in your gas, simply pull off the oil injection pump, remove the plastic shaft and put the oil pump back in. This will effectively stop your oil injection pump from delivering oil through the supply lines. I'd also mix the gas and run it for serveral minutes befoe shutting it down to disable the pump. That's because you'll have fuel in your system with no oil for that period of time you do the change over. Better to run rich with oil, than to run lean and damage the engine.

Re: Seadoo Oil Injection

to remove the pump on your engine you must pull the intake manifold and remove the drive gear, add a block off plate where the pump was and hook the two oil nipples together with a piece of the oil hose to prevent air from being pulled in,, you may also need to add some tension to the carb return spring as the oil pump spring is part of the return tension for the throttle cable.. while you have the intake removed you should rebuild your carb, premix is not fail safe,, if your carb filter is dirty or the diaphragm is old etc and the engine runs lean you won't get the correct amount of oil.

Okay I have a question instead of putting block off plate in place of injection pump could somebody take the hoses off and connect them and then put a single hose on each port or injector if it’s unhooked from the carb this is on a 1994 seadoo SP
