Stupid question.... Have a pair of 97' GTX's.. Last year I towed them on vacation for 12 hours each way. What appeared to be great condition OEM covers shreaded around the handlebars half way through the trip. Are the covers for storage only, or can you travel at highway speed with them on. I see alot going down the road with no problem it seems to me. Now I have aquired a set of original 1997 OEM Seadoo GTX covers that have never been out of the box. They are in perfect condition, but I am afraid to run them on the highway. I need to do something because I am stone chipping the heck out of the front ends of the skis. Anybody shed some light?

Maybe the old covers had dry rot in the threads on the seems. I see them everyday on the highway with the OEM covers.I think they will be ok...

Re: Seadoo Cover for Travel.

they do make towing covers. Do the new covers have a little plastic cone sewed in the cover at the ends? then you can tow with them. it could be the old ones were jsut that old. sun could of damaged the canvas enough or the stitching then driving 65 MPH didnt help. one thing to do is make sure the covers are on pretty tight. if they flap around they tear up
