I just ordered a Vexus AVX 2180cc. The salesman talked me into spending $1,800 on adding SeaDek on the entire boat. After much research, I’m not so sure this is a great move. Anyone have any experience with this product?

If I ever buy another boat it will have SeaDek in the cockpit and on the swim platform no matter what the cost. See my comments and pics in the referenced thread.

great on the feet, however EVA foam is same as flip flops. they stain if you drop wine on them.

Wine and high heels will damage SeaDek. But, if you are drinking wine while wearing high heels you're probably not in a little bowrider. In that case you probably have real teak on the deck.

If the boat has a fiberglass diamond grip deck I would not cover it.

My Whaler has a FG non-skid deck. Its easy to clean with a mop, but nevertheless it always looks dirty. When we swim off the boat and come back in dripping wet, the deck gets slippery, regardless of the "diamond grip". However, the worst part is that the bow section (not under the bimini) is almost too hot to walk on. We need to throw a towel down.

Our fully covered SeaDek deck, no matter if its in full sun or not, no matter how wet it gets, is a true joy to walk on.

Now, my caveat is that we only have 2 seasons on the SeaDek so we can't speak toward the long term service life. Nevertheless, if it craps out there is no question we'll replace it.

Installed it on my swim platform. Best purchase ever made. Period. Vinyl and carpet are hot in the sun, this stuff is nice and cool....same amount of sun exposure.

As for stains, haven't had one yet. And I fish, no wine on board. Hoses right off and if not, then a mild detergent (boat soap) usually gets the rest off.

$1800 for the whole cockpit? That's a steal. I paid around $500 or so just for my small swim platform.

Our 19' cockpit was also $1800, and the swim platform was $600. The cockpit is snap in, so if there was ever an issue, any single part could be replaced.

The snap in is mounted on a separate base, which makes it even more comfortable to walk on.

The mechanics that set up the boat and fabricated some extra canvas for us apparently weren't too careful. There were oil and grease stains throughout the cockpit. The SeaDek brand cleaner and a damp sponge made the floor look perfect. So far only one large bloody fish made a mess. That cleaned up easy peasy as well.

My new to me Cobalt I am buying has it. If it don't come with it I was planning on putting it in. Right now, its just on the swim step but may have it go all the way to the bow eventually.
