Has anyone used Seacast to replace their transom? Any comments or advise?

We have had a few member's use seacast (and other similar materials). Look in the Restoration Section and look at this post there http://forums.iboats.com/forum/boat...r/295740-how-to-s-and-other-great-information and look at item 7

Now since your transome is in need of work........ investigate further and see if the stringrs are also in need (they usually go at the same time)

Bob,
I think he has an aluminum boat. I'm sure the stringers are just fine in that case.

I have used seacast (1 part bondo, 1 part resin, a bunch of ground up fiberglass boat chunks all mixed in a bucket)

however isnt the Lowe an aluminum boat?

My bad..... I stand corrected it is an aluminum deck boat........ Now remembering that (having it pointed out to me) I would AVOID seacast since you would be changing the rear structure ........... you would be better off using plywood.
