Sea Rayer Spins out all the time

I have a 1994 Sea Rayder F-14 90 hp, For some reason it wants to spin out almost every time you try to make a left hand turn, even at slow speed like 15 MPH, move the wheel JUST A LITTLE TO MUCH AND SPINOUT, and I mean you don't have to move it very much at all!!! Am I missing a adjustment somewhere ???? This can't be right, you can not come close to enjoying yourself fearing the boat will spinout at anytime ! Anything over 10 MPH and you don't know what is going to happen !<br /><br />The bad part is you don't even know it is going to happen !!<br /><br />Also if this helps, when you let off the throttle at over maybe 15 MPH or so the boat pulls to the left and you have to adjust for it, fine on plane, no pull.<br /><br />Thank you in advance ....<br /><br />.....John.......

check the intake grate and ride plate something is wrong under the boat, sorry I am not familiar with the boat is it using a mercury 90hp 3 cyl engine

Prosteet, I have the same exact boat. When I am slowing down off plane, if I quickly get off the throttle, the back end will wander, this is normal.<br /><br />Your spin out problem is not normal.<br /><br />On the bottom of the jet output, is there a large fin annode? If it is missing or worn, that may be part of your problem.<br /><br />When your boat is out of the water, check to make sure your steering is linear. Turn the wheel back and forth and check to see the jet turns linear.<br /><br />Ken

That is exactly why I asked , those old mercury pumps have a big zink fin just below the steering nozzle and that stops the rear of the boat from sliding out, it may be bent to one side or totally missing, I had some pictures of a regal with that engine on my web page and I believe the part is visible on those pictures.

Ken...<br /><br />I checked what you asked and the fin is there, also the steering checks out ok !<br /><br />it seems to do it a lot more when there is a slight wind, does your do that too?

Is this your first jet boat? Jet boats will spin out easily, cause they have no rudder.<br /><br />To cause your spinout, do you have to move the wheel 5 degrees, 10 degrees? If I move the wheel about 20 degees it will spin out.<br /><br />Ken

Ken....<br /><br />I would say about 10 to 15 degrees, Yes it is my first Jet Boat, the other day it was not so windy on the lake and it did not spin out as much, does yours spin out more in a wind, what would happen if I took the rudder off, would that help or make it worse ??<br /><br />Thanks<br /><br />.....John.....
