Hello all...
We took my 1997 SeaRayder f16 out in the sound yesterday and it performed normally...we stopped a couple of times to fish and it restarted but took longer as the day went on. On the drive back, about 5 miles we were running at about 2/3 throttle, again with no issues.
About 20 meters from the dock, I put it in neutral, then reversed to slow down and it stalled. I went to restart and it wouldn't turn over, and just made a click sound. We paddled to the dock and their is power to both the blower, the instrument, and the bilge, but the starter will not crank the engine.
Could it be the battery has lost power (as in a bad alternator) and while it retains enough juice for the blower etc, it doesn't have the amperage to crank the engine?
Also...could it be a fuse? I bought the boat used and like most fold I only have the pretty flimsy PDF digital manual and supplement.
Is there a simple way to diagnose the issue?
Thanks ahead of time...We really like the boat, but the idea of getting stuck somewhere frankly sucks.
