Sea Ray vs Chaparral 1st boat

Need some opinions on 1st boat. 250 slx vs 257 ssx

Chap has Volvo 380 hp and captins call exhaust. Sea Ray has merc 300 hp. Sea Ray has trim tabs. All other options are the same.

Chap is about a grand more.

Any thoughts between these as a first boat on lake Texoma.

In the Chaparral Owners Forum, general consensus is that the new 257ssx definitely needs at least 380hp and trim tabs. It is based on the old 256ssx, same hull, and seasoned owners swear that trim tabs are mandatory.

I have no experience with the SeaRay.

Nice boats either way, especially as your first. Relatively big and heavy bowriders, so take it slow getting "up to speed."
