I have another post about looking for a first boat but decided to post this one here. What is a jet boat like this good for? I'm just not very familiar with them, and the price got my attention. I'm looking for a recreational boat that handles the salt river fine, can haul a few friends and pull a tube, maybe wakeboard. For what I need, do you think a jet boat is practical?

This must be the 90HP version.

Well, it's like a big PWC, but underpowered.

I have a Searayder F16 with the 120HP jetpump. It's really funny on water. If you like PWC you'll like the boat. If you prefer a cruising boat to go in a straight line, go with small boat with the 130HP inboard 4cylinders.

Repairs are expensive on those jet boats and a lot of mechanics don't want to repair them. I don't know for the 90HP 14 feet but the 16 feet even in small waves if quite comfortable to ride. THE boat to get if you with to have one of these is the F16 XR2 *175HP* There's more parts available for those and the power is a lot better. If you want to sit 4 people and pull a tube, I think you'll have to forget about the 90/120HP.

you get what you pay for,, I would say don't buy it ,no matter how nice it looks,, it has a 90 force engine adapted for the jet the old mercury pump and it will not steer for beans.. I started my business because I had a similar boat,, it was a regal same size same engine,, under powered unreliable, expensive to fix and you better learn to do all the work because most places won't touch it and if they did it would cost more than the boat is worth.. they have lots of stator and brain issues usually caused by bad rectifiers ,, plus weed issues in the pumps etc. and they do not make those any more.. obsolete.

Thanks for the input guys. Yeah, I decided I'm gonna go with an all fiberglass boat with a good outboard motor. More rebiable, easier to maintain and more resistant to the salt water.
