I have an I/O mercruiser, 2.5L, 4 cyl., 120. (Stern drive ser. # 6736684)
While running the engine the muff slid off the water intake and ran dry for a minute or two. Now
the engine overheats. I'm trying to replace the impeller, but don't know where to find it. Is it better
to replace or rebuild the impeller unit?

Replacing impeller will cost you about 40.00
I just did mine... Good luck getting the lower unit off if it is saltwater.. Took me 16 hours to get it off finally.... My boat was saltwater and all is corroded on....
Are you sure thats whats wrong??

Tallman

Not 99% sure, but it seems to be the cheapest way to go for now, plus it was running cool before the muff slipped off. Thanks for the reply. Did you undo the nuts on the antiventalation plate? Is the impeller in plain sight?
