back to the 170cc. Turns out that the fuel gauge is saying about 3/4 full when the tank is, in fact, empty. This does not amuse the Coast Guard or the owner.

Does anybody know if there is a trim pot adjustment to try to set the gauge correctly? Does anybody know how to access the fuel level sender? Any other suggestions beyond carrying a jerry can of fuel?

Thanks!

Re: Sea Pro Fuel Gauge problem

I have a 1990 170cc with Gauge problems too. There should be a small round cover made of somked PVC just inside the CC doors. It's held in place by three phillips head screws. remove this cover and you have access to the top of the tank, just above the fuel sending unit. It's a real bear to get to the screws for the unit.

Be real careful with power screw-drivers etc.. because you'll be opening the top of the tank and your head will be in a eclosed space under the CC....Fuel fumes.

I have a 2004 180cc. I have a problem with my sender constantly saying I have a full tank. Problem is that the tank is fully enclosed under the deck. I took a jigsaw to her and put in a hatch for quick access. Works like a champ, and I can get to the sender when I need to.
