Picked up this Sea King Forty on the back of an old runabout. Model# GG18744B S-26X864719. Wondering what year and its not firing on the top cylinder. Switched the plugs around, both fire in the bottom cylinder but not the top. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! Thank You, Ross

Hi Ross<br /> Your SeaKing is a 1962 model, it was made by OMC. Sounds like you have ignition failure. you will have to remove the flywheel and inspect the points and coils, etc. An after market manual covering this year johnson/evinrude will work just fine for your motor as well. You my be able to find a copy at your public library.

I hate to disagree with alcan but before pulling the flywheel please disconnect the two smaller wires coming from beneith the flywheel and see if your spark returns. Grounding one will kill one spark.

Was able to remove the flywheel. These wires to disconnect, they come out from under the flywheel? If this brings back the spark, then do I leave them off? Also, I noticed that the coils are all all cracked and corroded.

Forget about them. Cracked coils are wet coils. I tried to bake one with a very minor crack out once and it exploded from a buildup of steam in it. Replace both, and perhaps points and condensors while your at it (they're cheap).

I picked up another older Evinrude Lark VI Model # 40462 S. Will the coils off this one work? They look brand new and not a crack in them. Actually all the parts under the flywheel look identical to the Sea King, And all the parts look very clean and new.
