Hey Guys,

I am new to this forum and basically a novice when it comes to boats. I recently purchased an older (mid 60s most likely) Starcraft aluminum boat that is 16 feet long.
I have a trolling motor that was given to me a few years back when I had mentioned I wanted a little fishing boat. The motor is a Sea King modle # EAO28901A... I have tried to find some info on it using the interweb and have had no luck. So I was hoping somone here might be able to tell me a little about it. Mostly what I want to know is if it will be powerful enough to move my boat and what kind of battery it will need? the places I fish and will use it have a 10 HP limit on motors so Im just looking at trolling motors as my main motor.
And if it is too old or not powerful enough to be of any use to me, please suggest other alternatives :)
I can post some picts of it if that will help any.

Thanks Guys

Being a mid-sixties motor it is very likely inefficient and not likely very powerful. Is also very likely a 12 volt unit meaning you need one 12 volt deep cycle battery to run it. But it doesn't matter right now if it is powerful enough or not. Mount it, try it, and if it doesn't pan out simply remove it and install something newer, more powerful and more efficient. On your boat the largest 12 volt unit will be a 55 pound thrust. anything larger will require two 12 volt batteries wired in series to provide 24 volts. MinnKota and MotorGuide both make anything you need.

Thank you Silvertip.

It is a 12volt and I also noticed that it is a Montgomery Wards product which explains why I can't find anything about it.
