My son and I just picked up a project boat and it has a 1964 Sea King 45. I've tried to get it to turn over, but it will not with the spark plugs in, but spins fine without the sparks. Is it the starter and does anyone know where to get a manual for this motor.

64 is a westbend; became chrysler in 66.chrysler manual should serve you well.
generic aftermarket manuals are also a possibility.sometimes you can find a manual at the library.
it is likely the starter is bad. you should be able to turn the motor by hand with the plugs out.
Most outboards there is a flange with a notch so you can crank the motor with a rope.
Before you put too much into the motor you should do a compression check.
Usually the minimum pressure is about 100 psi and within 10% between cylinders.
You can hand crank to check let us know what you find.

Thank you, will check compression as soon as I get gage back from friend, but seems to be pretty good and sparkplugs have plenty of spark. I took the starter off last night and the bushings are fairly worn. Do you have a contact for replacement bushings or should I replace the starter?

Just checked compression. Top cylinder was 110 psi & Bottom was 120 psi. Looking for a rebuild kit for the started and a place to get a new impellar. Any information that can be past along is helpful.
