I just picked up a Sea-flyer 5hp motor today that appears to be made by B.F. Goodrich. The motor started right up after being hidden for 20 years or so.
Does anybody know where I can find any books or info on this motor?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Joe

The model number would help it usually appears on the top of the mounting bracket.Motor was probably built by the Gale devision of OMC.It may share specs and parts with other Gale built motors. You could watch eBay for stuff related to your motor. The Antique Outboard Motor Club at
www.aomci.org may be able to help with info and parts.

Re: sea-flyer

Found it!
64-180 is a 1951 Gale built 5hp. I believe that's the equivalent of a TD/TN series Johnson outboard. Those were nearly indestructible.

I see that kencook.com doesn't list your outboard, but you could get a '51 Gale Buccaneer manual from them:
Manuals, click here.

Maybe you could convince them to find a matching Sea-Flyer manual for you. Also, any aftermarket manual that covers the TD/TN series Johnsons should be useful to you too.

Located reference here.
