Welcome to the forums,

Stay away from Sea Eagle have 2 at our work shop with cracked, broken floorboards which are plastic, cheapo quality, althouth SE thinks are the best of this world. Saturn 12" has an inflatable deck which has less water performance compared to wooden or alum panel floors sibs. Are you looking for portability, ease of assembly ? If wanting best riding performance go for the 13" footer which has wooden pannel floorboards.

Happy Boating

They are both low end product. That's not necessarily a bad thing. Figure a 7 to 10 year service life on either one. However, you can buy other similar boats, same or better quality, around the same price, but, they will have an "enforceable" warranty. A warranty without a local dealer to have that warranty work done is like not having one at all.

Tohatsu, could you elaborate on the other brands, i have been looking at the Sea Eagle and the Coastal Inflatables. We have no inflatable dealers in our area so warranty is going to be a pain no matter what for us I think.

Mercury PVC, Zodiac PVC and Duras PVC are all a wee bit better and have a multitude of warranty centers available. Mercury can be taken to any Mercury outboard dealer and Duras can be taken to any Tohatsu or Nissan dealer. Zodiac has around 60 dealers spread out across the US. Personally I like the Mercury and Duras as they provide the most bang for the buck, but I sell those brands and 6 other brands, so I am inclined to recommend the brands that are easy to deal with on warranty. Zodiac is fair enough on warranty coverage too, but they are priced more...Apparently because Zodiac thinks that they are worth it:)

Guys Thank you so much for your help :)

I think I will go with a Mercury or a Zodiac because there are several dealers nearby.

i had a 12 foot saturn, and have nothing bad to say about it, i loved it! replaced it with a 14 foot seamax, only because saturn was out of stock for the 14'. also love my seamax, and i got lots of goodies with it no charge!

So would you say zodiacs aren't all what they're said to be? I've always thought they were the best, but I never owned an inflatable and I'm looking to buy one.

It's more of a material thing than a brand thing. Hypalon is much more durable than PVC. Within the same type of material, Zodiac is as good as any other. IE Any Hypalon boat is better than any PVC boat. So, the best PVC boat is still not as good as the worse Hypalon boat.

tohatsu - with all due respect, are you serious when you say sea eagle is a low end product. I've just been checking them out and they seem anything but - especially if you go on price alone!!! i quite like the look of their packages - with the swivel seat and shade, not the electric motor option - now that is way too expensive for little return. I was thinking to pair up the sea eagle 12.6sr with the tohatsu 2 stroke 18hp.

Very serious...But, that's not a bad thing. I sell 2 brands that are only low end and 3 other brands that have both low and high end boats. Plus three brands that are only high end. Sea Eagle is a very well respected low end boat with many adherents...Almost all of whom are people that have never owned an inflatable boat before. High end boats have 20 year plus service lives. Good low end boats are around ten years and the lowest of the low are around 4 to 6 years.
