I like to fish, but I'm not very good at it. So I plan to keep practicing!

I know a few people in this forum are from my area-- what inland lakes do you like to fish? I usually go to Cass Lake, but it's crowded with skiers and tubers and seems to be getting more crowded every week as the summer goes on (as I mentioned in another post).

I've fished Orchard Lake and had some moderate success. I heard Wolverine Lake is good for largemouth and walleye.

Also, bonus question... I've always done catch & release, but I'd like to bring home something fresh-caught for dinner every now and then. Do you guys usually eat your catch, and if so, what typical lake fish are the best eating? I have a restricted license-- everything but trout and salmon (which I realize means the tastiest fish are off-limits for me).

Old post, but maybe this will resurrect it...

On calm days I head to Saginaw Bay for walleye, and even though most use crawler harnesses, I have a hard time slowing down my boat, so I use inline planers and diving rapalas. On windy days I've been fishing Holloway Reservoir in Columbiaville (north of Lapeer) and doing good for walleye by drifting with crawlers.
I live in Oxford...
