I have the standard rubber flap that many use. Scuppers are to close to water line to be safe when left in the water. Feel my boat is closer to self sinking then self bailing. Use the scupper plugs and going to install a floor drain to get water to bilge pump when scuppers are plugged. Will plug floor drain when fishing or cleaning boat to keep dirt out of the bildge and drain dirty water out scuppers. Anyway I am thinking of getting the TEMPO AUTOMATIC DRAIN PLUGS http://www.shop.com/op/~AUTOMATIC_DRAIN_PLUG-prod-12448365 Not sure if iboats sells them. I saw these on a boat and like the idea. I think it would work better then the flapper or ping pong ball scupper valve. If anyone is using these please review them for us. Thanks Edited After looking closer at these I think they are for drain plugs not the larger holes of scuppers.

Re: scupper check valve option

Scuppers that are too close to the waterline are seriously dangerous and you're very wise to be concerned about them.

You might see if those wooden cone-shaped plugs they sell for emergency use would fit yours from the inside....you could tap them into place when the boat stays in the water. But honestly, this is the kind of thing that doesn't really have an easy solution. How much do you like the boat otherwise?

Good luck!

Re: scupper check valve option

I have a 20 ft. sunbird center console and I love the boat. I have plugs that I leave in the scuppers most of the time. I installed a 1 1/2 inch pvc floor drain to get the water out of **** pit and to the pumps. Also have a screw plug to close the drain when using the scuppers. Seems to be working. On the floor drain i used a paint sifting (debree) bag to catch any dirt before it gets to the pump. Will only use scuppers when on the trailer, running in rough seas and when draining dirty water after cleaning boat. Scuppers work great when running. I am also in the process of moving as much weight forward as I can. I wish I could safely leave scuppers open while at the dock to drain rain water but it is to risky.
