Hey guys,
I have a question that I hope makes sense. I do not know a lot about the workings of a boat, but my father-in-laws throttle on his 1978 17' boat makes a really loud noise every so often while we are cruising down the lake. Usually, we can put the throttle in neutral to get it to stop, but last weekend we had to completely turn off the engine for 20 minutes before we could start it without the noise coming back. Is this some kind of alarm? (I know the carburetor is gummed up and needs to be dismantled and cleaned thoroughly.) Any help would be greatly appreciated.
