Can someone tell me when changes were made? I have a Firestone 3.6, 1946 and a Wizard 3.6 without a id tag. they are similar but different. cylinder, block, head. 4 bolt head on firestone, 6 bolt head on wizard-mcc. Checking out parts I find that maybe in 1952 they changed design. Sometimes I see some on ebay and I'm not sure if they are early or late models. I have only ran these motors briefly, not lake tested, but it sounds like the firestone is a little more throaty sounding if you know what I mean. maybe bigger displacement or more power, don't know. any info is always appreciated.

what year is the wizard?, I have 2 1946 firestone 3.5 462's and a 1958 Scott Atwater 3.6 my 58 SA is six bolt, My 46's are in the shed but the book shows all SA singles to be six bolt ??? I have to take care of business or I would go confirm that...but the Great book Of Scott Atwater shows it true...however not every diagram in the Great book is acurate, The Great book shows top main bearing flanges that bolt to the block on most twins but this is not the case at all

I don't know how old the wizard 3.6 is becuz id tag is gone. I think they were sold 1959-62. It still had enough decal left to identify. The firestone tank was covered in solder and red paint with crappy yellow underneath, no decals at all. but did have the casting numbers of 463. since I haven't seen a listing for head gasket for pre 52 then thats probably when they changed designs....maybe.

Thanks guys. So when I see a '46 3.6 for sale on ebay and it has a 6 bolt cyl head, then it is not a 1946.

No didn't buy gasket sets. I just like looking at ebay to see what the old motors sell for. Then I show them to the wife to justify why I play with that old junk that blocks her parking space! A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do, and he who dies with the most toys wins!
