I am having trouble with my twin 225 Johnsons overheating and Dhadley said they make Scoops for the lower units. Does anyone know where I can purchase these?
Sounds like you need to lower your motors or get some nose cones for that dude... Haven't seen any of those scoops for years... Don't think you want to use them any way.. they would probably slow you down more then dropping your motor hight.. There is pretty high-tech Hydro-Dynamics going on down there.. besides the drag they would cause they would add alot of turbulance to the water flow to the suction side of the prop. how the water flows off the lower unit is VERY important.. some very smart people spent alot of time and testing on the ideal shape...

You "might" and I stress "might" be able to get buy with filling in the top half of your intake screens to keep them from sucking air... Try this...

Get some good 3m duct tape "not the cheep stuff"
Cover the top half of the intake screens with it.
Start just behind one screen and wrap the tape around the front of the lower unit and run it past the back of the other one.. this will help keep the water from tearing it off... Now wet it with a hose and let it sit in the sun for a day..

It won't last long... but if you can get your water pressure up around 15psi you know it will work...

If it works.. fill the top half of the screens with bondo and feather it in good and smooth...

Again there are better ways.. but sounds like you like your motor hight where it is...

Good Luck....
hi_five
Its very confusing when you change threads like that. Did you check out the other things? What about the hose location and the toe in?

Check out the things we were talikg about and let us know!
OK. I found the other thread. If the horn is sounding but the motor does not go into SLOW the warning may be fuel pressure. When the horn sounds (steady sound) and you reduce throttle does it quit or does it continue to sound even if you pull it into neutral?

CHECK THE TOE-IN!
While you are measuring the toe in, check the center to center measurement. Are both motors warning horns sounding at the same time or just the port motor?

Let us know!
