Scary ride !!!

Hello to all. I just purchased a Stratos 258 with a Johnson 88 hp on it. Took it out for the first time, and thought that I worked for NASA when I hit the throttle. I am used to boats comming up on plane slowly, but this boat literally rockets out of the water and up on plane. If I try to give it gas slow, it points the nose for the sky, and stands straight up. My question is, is this what "Hole Shot" is, or is something wrong. This is my first true Bass Boat. I have had alot of wannabee's but this is my first true one. Also what is something like this worth ? on a 1 to 10 scale, i would give it a 9 for overall condition. Thanks for your help and advise. Dave

Sounds like you had it trimmed out too far. The 88 is a great motor. I'd need to see some pics to tell you what I thought the combo was worth.

Stick on a set of smart tabs and you'll flatten it right out.

i assume you have trim & tilt. when coming out of the hole tilt the motor all the way down, then as it comes up and start to level out trim up some. the 88 is a super motor great torque and power. one of the best motors i ever owned.

not familar with the hull, more description would help. length etc.
