Holy **** I have four kids and that was scary too watch.
I really don't like the fact they let that baby float there for 5 minutes to show us it could be done. WTF!!!!

Wow!! All of ours are great swimmers now, but I sent that to some newer parents I know. That baby didn't look too traumitized when he got plucked out, so I am staying out of the child abuse camp. All I know is that I am a strong swimmer and I can't float :( My legs always drop and I have been trying since I was around 10 . . . How they can do it with clothes on blows my mind

All my girls took to the water at a young age.
My oldest was swimming at 5, and good too.
She never had no training of no kind.
The other 2 went to the local Y at a young age and started their swimming.
That child in the video enjoyed it cause somewhere down they line it was made to be fun for him/her.

I'm not saying it was child abuse.
All I am saying as the father of 4 girls, the youngest being 2 years old, is that was uncomfortable for ME to watch. My little one calls for me when she is scared or hurt and it was just uncomfortable too watch.
It was pretty dam incredible the way that kid flipped over kicking with one leg.

I didn't find it scary at all. Actually, I think it is very intelligent that they are teaching those children vs. simply trying to shelter/protect them. That's true parenting in my opinion: teach a child to fish...

Yea that's pretty amazing. Maybe when they're taught that young there's no panic factor to deal with.

I find it amazing what a child learns in his first few years of life. Walking, speaking a language, etc. Why not swimming?
Little toddlers enjoy leaning and everyday is a learning experience for them.
My three year old grandson is right with me when I am working on things asking questions like "What does this do?" and "How does this work?"

Re: Scary but informative video

we took my 3yr old boy to those lessons. It was scary for him, but he loved the teacher and always asked to go back to see "Mr. D".

We will take our little girl when she is old enough.

We don't even have a pool.
