OK so I'm out fishing today, and it's the fourth time I've been out on the same tank of gas. Gas guage does not work right, has read almost full when I have pumped 12 gallons into the 25 gallon tank. Anyway, I got done fishing (did good too, 3 good stripers, a blue, and a skate in about an hour) and I'm getting ready to head back. I switch on the blower, then walk up front and pull the anchor in. I get done with that and flip the ignition switch on and hit the starter button. Fires then dies. Hit it again, fires then dies. I did this about three more times and get to worrying, and that's when I notice that the fuel guage is at DEAD EMPTY. Now I panic. Great, I'm going to have to get towed in. I sit there for a minute and then realize that the ignition switch is off. I must have bumped it. My boat has no keys (lost over the winter) so I have an on/off switch wired for the ignition and a push-button starter switch. It's trailered only so I'm not worried about someone driving off with it. :) Somehow I knocked the switch off while pushing the button. It was firing while the starter was cranking, but as soon as I let go of the button the ignition would go dead.

I flipped the switch, the fuel guage slapped back to "F" and she started right up.

Got on the trailer, filled the tank, only took 8 gallons after 4 good fishing trips and some cruising. Gotta love that 3.0. :)

Don't ya love panicing out in the middle of a lake/ocean when no-one is around and things aren't working out right. Been there, done that.
At least you had gas to get home.
Get a new gas guage. If ya don't, you are definetely going to go through that again. :(

Yeah I have to do some diagnostics on it, with my luck it's the sender or the float. Couldn't be as simple as needing just a new guage!

I would get a stick as a spare and second opinion.

Nowhere to 'stick' the tank. It does not even have a mechanical guage on it as I thought was required. I'm going to pull the sender/float this weekend and play with it.
