Scan tool for Mercruiser

Hello, i have the 2009 Mercruiser 350MAG MPI with ECM555 (Non DTS) ECU. I want to buy one scan tool for my new engine and i found that : http://www.mefi4.com/sc/details.asp?item=mefiscan1
I want to ask you some questions if you know.
1)will i need in future this tool for possible engine faults?
2) Is this scan tool compatible with my engine?
3) Which MEFI version is mine. MEFI 1,2,3 or 4?

you dont have a MEFI version you have a PCM555.
try Rhinda technologies.

+1 to what rodbolt said. You have a motorola ecm, not a delphi

You need a scan tool, but not the computer software and a laptop. The Mercruiser scan tool from Rinda is about the best for the price you can get. Takes a little longer to use than the computer software, but the learning curve and price is a lot less.
