Preparing for the installation of my re-build,
Plan on getting new hardware for the rear mounts.
What are the thoughts on the bushings in the rear cover?
How can I tell if they need to be replaced?

With what?

Hi Tony,...... Use a propane torch to burn the ole ones out,..... melt/ burn the rubber,.....

BD has shown pictures of a tool he fabbed up for the job,.....
A piece of threaded rod, 'n a couple appropreate sized sockets can also work,....
And,.....
Get a can of Quicksilver Power Tune,.... for outboards,.....
Any time yer installin' Rubber parts,.... A quick spray of Power Tune, 'n they almost drop into place,.....

Don S taught me the Trick, for pushin' in the aluminum lockin' ring on a Alpha, Gen.II drive bellows,....
Since then, I use it on any, 'n all rubber parts I'm installin',.....

So I got the innards of the mounts out by burning the rubber.
I/ assuming there is a metal sleeve still in the hole with the remaining rubber.
Is there a metal ring on top that must be removed???
