Go out and buy a small book called "COD" and you will have not only the history of this commercial fish,but also its chances of future survival.
The big problem of commercial fisheries is that nobody actually owns the fish.The result is that nobody protects their property(fish stocks).If we dont protect our fish,they will go the way of the buffalo.
If you think that this is hogwash,you should try and make yourself a mental picture of 50 Norwegian fishing ships each with 5 or 6 thirty mile long nets that catch anything and everything that comes into it?
Can you imagine a net that stretches for 7500 miles?
these are only the Norwegians.Than there are the Spanish,the Japanese,the icelanders and a whole bunch more.
