Century you could get that one its a Tinny and sell off the 2 glass ones and be ahead on the restoration thing :D. Tinny's are sooooo much easier to resto and that one looks pretty good . I will add here you must be close to me go up to the user Cp and edit your profile with your location us Starcrafters like knowing where everybody is at :D.

Good luck getting the old JohnnyRude running, I have a 77 A 18 with an I/O and had a great summer with it.
I have been so pleased with the reliability of this boat and of course being a straight six everything on the engine is easily accessible.
I think I have a solid transom and stringers, did 40 at 4500 revs for a little bit on lake Michigan today and the sterndrive did not fly off.

I gave $500 with a cracked block
+ Title & Registration
+ Bellows & Shift cable
+ Used engine, Gaskets, Tune up & Related parts
+ Prop
+ Speakers & Radio I had
+ Paint trailer, New tires & Light kit

Got probably $1700 total into it now, need to add about a $ 1000 worth of upholstery, depth finder and marine radio this winter.

Wife told me when I bought it that it was old and junk and a waste of time and that she and our child would never co out on it, she got on it right away this spring and fell in love with being on the boat and lake and wants to go out more than me now and if I don't want to go out then I get strife.
She still wants a newer bigger better boat but is more than content with this one now.
Good luck with yours.

The old johnson is the bad part it is just plane ol wore out. One cylinder lost a ring and trashed the head. The po told me they ran the hell out of it on lake mich for three months before the engine died. I plan on rebuilding it this winter. It needs to be bored and new pistons I can do it all but the bore myself so it should only cost me 5-600. Will have 6-700 in it total and i want to lern these big two strokes. http://i916.photobucket.com/albums/ad7/thehippy77/PA040577.jpg and http://i916.photobucket.com/albums/ad7/thehippy77/PA040579.jpg windsor how fast were you going in the wake pic the reason i ask is the kids love to wakebord at about 15-18 and that looks like a good one.

Hey 86 Century,
Another American 18 owner! Whoo-hoo! You will LOVE your boat. I've owned tinnies and glassers and the glass boats win hands down for ride and comfort. The American series hulls have an offshore racing pedigree, which is what gives them the great ride. My 18 with a 90hp Johnson does high 30s. With a 135 you ought to be closing in on 50 with a good set-up & prop.

took it out for a test run today with a 77 115 johnson (13 3/4 15 prop) runs right at 40 with little fuel and just me. How does yours run out loaded heavy and pulling a tube or skis. The reason i ask is the 115 runs great and i have read that the 115 and 135 are real close to the same if all i get is 3-5 mph I will not mess with the parts swap.

Re: Saved Starcraft 75 american 18'

I haven't used mine for pulling much, but with the 90 I have no trouble getting out of the hole with all seats filled (6 adults, plus a kid or two). The big key with the Johnrude V4s is propping them to peak in the high 5000s with a light load. I run a 15-inch prop on mine, too and am running in the 5700 RPM range. With your 115 and the 15-inch you might find your running over 6000. Tach it first, and go from there...

As for the differences between the 115 and 135, I agree that you probably won't see a huge difference for the amount of work put in. Again, work with your prop and set up and you'll likely see some improvement with what you have now...
