Sandsucker Holes

I am planning a vacation/fishing trip to Northern Michigan - the Elk Lake area north of Traverse City. I have been looking at the map of the lake and it has several locations identified as "sandsucker holes" on it. What is a sandsucker hole? I have never heard of them.

Well from what I read on the internet, they are holes left from sand plants removing sand from lake bottom. Sand plant as in where a concrete company would buy sand.
