I have an 18' boat and trailer towed by a Pontiac Montana. I also have a 20' stretch of soft sand between me and the wide open bay !! I can get the boat in the water but would like any suggestions as to how to get it back out.(My neighbour pulled it out with his 4X4 this time!) Thanks, Alan.

Re: SAND !!!!!!!

On our Kaipara harbour launch site there's a stretch of sand to get over on the retrieve. We use a long thick rope and with the vehicle on solid ground we tow the trailer and boat up. Obviously we have the jockey wheel in. Just shorten the rope and repeat until the trailer is able to be connected to the vehicle.
Ross

Re: SAND !!!!!!!

Alan,
I had the same problem years ago and what I did (after trying almost everything else :) )was to pick up a roll of old 6 ft chain link fencing. When I got to the sand, I just rolled it out and it made an excellent "ramp". Ok, so it was a bit awkward at first, but I'd just roll it back up and throw it in the bed of the truck. It also allowed me to launch the boat in areas where there was no boat ramp. I simply rolled it down into the water. No problem.

Just an idea, but it worked well for me.
Nav

The chain link fence thing is the smartest thing I've ever heard. I can see how that would make a HUGE difference.
