I found sand in my telltale and was blocking the flow.

I blew it out and now its free of sand and I have flow threw it but.......

the flow is half the pressure. my question is do I need to do something to remove the sand somewhere else?

do I change the impeller? can I flush out the system

thx

What are you working on? Hp and year please :) If the thermostat cover can be removed, you can flush it from this opening with a garden hose. However, if you say its half the flow now, I suspect the impeller. Check it, its easy, and should be replaced (in my opinion) every season.

Definitely need to flush it and open and inspect and might as well replace the impeller. The consequence of a malfunction impeller is just too great to take chance.

I doesn't matter what engine you have: If you had sand in the tell-tale, It obviously had to pass through the water pump! Change the impeller now as a matter of regular maintenance.
