I have an aerator pump at the bottom of my hull that fills up my bait-well. I want to install another pump but dont want to poke a hole on my hull. Can I T-off from the inlet of the exiting pump? Is the inlet enough to feed both pumps? see pic

i'm planing to operate them separately, that's why I need 2 pumps.

I think you could because you are so close to the water source. If one will have an actual aerator nozzel on, it won't use much water.

Re: Same inlet for two aerator pumps?

thanks for the advise. I got in there today and saw that there is a sea-**** valve installed, so I guess i'm I'm good on that part. However, a couple of weeks ago, the existing pump was acting up and yesterday it stopped working. I pulled it out today and the motor had overheated so badly that it warped and was bulging. The outer casing was ok. It is an attwood 500. What can cause this? I had only used it twice since i got the boat and before that it probably sat for a long time. There was a little grass in the inlet but not enough to plug it. The inlet is located at the bottom about 1.5 feet forward of the transom. I was running the boat 20-25 mph for 15-20 min at a time. That's all the info I got...

I got 2 new pumps and will install them as mentioned before. I just want to make sure I don't burn them.

I have my livewells split like that wiht shut offs on them so I cna fill one or both tanks and it does run kinda slow when fillling both so you cna do it but it would be better to have dedicated pumps.

I may make the one of my winter projects, it also gives you a redundant pump if one goes down.

If you were running these under way they don't have nearly enough power to overcome the boat moving forward so they will just run without pumping so you can only run them going dead slow or at rest then shut them off when you are running.

Generally it doesn't hurt them to run for awhile with no water but never tried it for 25 minutes before, also make sure your wiring is correct, anytime something electrical melts it is good th check wiring.

I agree. To alleviate the problem install a "scoop" type pickup. The scoop will push water thru the system while underway so there is no need to run the pumps when moving.

On the downside, it will push water thru the pumps. You will need to close the seacock to stop the flow
