If you were to use your pontoon boat in saltwater, would one need to paint the pontoons with an antifouling paint such as that used on the bottom of salt water boats?

Re: Saltwater

Hello Tasahasdaddy,

So if I have a proper zinc block, pontoons will not be adversely affected by salt water and painting with defouling paint is not required. Is this correct?

Just want to take all precautions.

I forgot to ask, where would you put the anodes on the boat? My engine already has them but I don't believe there any on my boat. Do they sell kits for this?

thanks

Re: Saltwater

if you are storing the boat in the water, you need bottom paint and anodes. it just boating, for the weekend, and trailering, all you need are anodes. and a complete wash down afterwards. i sure you can find a kit for your boat.

I mounted a zinc block under the back tabs on each of the pontoons on my boat, just to be safe.all I go in is salt water.
